DIRECTIONS

  1. Using the die cutting machine and Memory Box Maple Leaf Die, cut out 3 or more leaves from the cream cardstock and set aside.
  2. Trim a piece of plum cardstock, approximately 8 ¼ x 5 ¼ inches and fold in half.
  3. Trim a piece of cream cardstock to 4 x 5 inches and adhere to the face of the folded plum cardstock, as shown.
  4. Trim another piece of the cream cardstock to ½ x 4 inches. With the Mud Pie INK, stamp the ‘be thankful’ sentiment on the banner as shown. Set aside.
  5. Trim the merlot cardstock to 3 x 4 ½ inches. Gently tear about ½ inch off one short side to create added texture to the bottom. Tear one additional rounded shape out of the merlot cardstock, about the same size as the leaves. Set these pieces aside.
  6. Trim the corrugated kraft paper to 2 x 4 ½ inches. Gently tear about ½ inch off one short side as shown.
  7. Apply a generous coat of Watermark ink on the acrylic block by gently and repeatedly tapping the pad to the block’s surface.
  8. Add random dots and swishes of each Smooch® color to the Watermark on the block.
  9. Use the toothpick or skewer to blend the colors together on the block.
  10. Place a die cut leaf on top of the block’s inked surface to lift the ink. Twist and drag the leaf to blend and cover the entirety of the leaf surface.
  11. Place the inked leaf on a scrap piece of paper and lightly cover with clear embossing powder. Carefully lift the leaf and tap off any excess embossing powder. Set the leaf aside and use the heat tool to set the embossing powder.
  12. Wipe off the block with a paper towel as to not contaminate your Watermark pad, and repeat steps 7-11 until all leaves are finished.
  13. Slightly overlap 2 of the leaves in the upper left corner of the merlot cardstock and adhere.
  14. Cut a piece of twine about 13 inches long and wrap it around the left side of the merlot cardstock length wise, overlapping the leaves. Double knot the twine to secure and tie a single knot at each end. Adhere this entire piece to the prepared card face.
  15. Place the corrugated kraft paper on the card face, slightly overlapping the merlot cardstock and leaves; adhere.
  16. Arrange the rest of the leaves and the round merlot cardstock on the corrugated kraft paper; adhere as shown.
  17. Place the banner at an angle atop the front of the card, allowing about 1 inch of the banner to slide under the twine and fold over to create a wraparound effect and adhere as shown.

TIPS

  • Trim sizes are listed only as a guide and are subject to personal preference. Experiment for best results!
  • Contrast is the goal. Many colors of cardstock will work well with this project as there are a number of hues that perfectly coordinate with the leaves. For example, try autumn inspired colors such as browns, reds, purples or yellows.
