  • Jute
  • Mod Podge

  • Small, Airtight Containers

DIRECTIONS

  1. Using a paper towel and the alcohol, clean the glass bottle and allow to completely dry.
  2. For this project, a custom color was created for the surface of the bottle. To make this custom color, combine 25 drops of Verdigris and 3 drops of Black Diamond on the paint palette. Mix well with the paintbrush.
  3. Wet paintbrush and apply the custom color to the bottle; heat set. After the bottle has cooled completely, apply a second coat; heat set.
  4. Cut patterned paper to desired size. For this project, the paper was cut to 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches.
  5. Apply the cut paper to the bottle using Mod Podge and allow to dry.
  6. Wrap jute around the neck of the bottle and secure with hot glue.
  7. To make the flowers, squeeze a few drops of Ruby Slippers, Verdigris and Poppy to the paint palette. Wet the paintbrush and paint book pages with each color. Allow to dry.
  8. Cut a 3 inch circle out of each book page. To add character, refrain from cutting perfectly round circles.
  9. Starting from the outside of each circle, begin cutting a spiral, working towards the center. The spiral layers should be about 1/4 inch, to warrant lots of petals.
  10. Roll the spiral starting from the outside end, to the inside. Repeat to create 3 flowers.
  11. Adhere the flowers to the bottle using hot glue.
  12. To make the flower leaves, squeeze a few drops of Moss Landing to the paint palette. Wet the paintbrush and apply Moss Landing to the last page. Allow to dry.
  13. Cut a few leaf shapes out of the book page and adhere to the bottle with hot glue.
  14. Wet the paintbrush and apply Poppy to one of the wooden cutouts and Verdigris to the other. Allow to dry. For this project, wooden butterfly cutouts were used.
  15. Layer and adhere the wooden cutouts to the bottle with hot glue.

TIPS

  • ColoriQue mixes and blends so well that color possibilities are endless. Small, airtight containers can be used to store custom colors.
  • Custom colors can be recreated by counting the number of drops used from each bottled color.
  • Streaking on the project’s surface can be avoided by applying the ink in the same direction with each brushstroke.
